So it was that we were discussing pain in therapy. I get snippy about it; is pain like losing... something bad? Clearly it is unavoidable, uncontrollable. Through pain we are transformed into something beautiful, something meaningful, or so the sadists of the world would tell you. "I'm hurting you for your own good," they'll say with a grin.
But maybe pain can bring us together. We all have our cross to bear after all.

Juice is the theme here, with my Dunkin' mug (the source of coffee and other delights) and my Prune Juice (the warrior's drink of pain, so described by Warf the Klingon). And so it was that this doodle came to be while discussing the industry of turning pain into dollars.

First, the alien on the left appeared; then, to counter it, I created the figure on the lower right... and the tubules between the two just made sense to me at the time. Predator and prey, making pain into that glue that creates a community... but it's unsustainable. The artist, the source of the pain, is used up, like a can of juice, a product, nothing more than Pain Juice.

This one is in my opinion quite good. I'm told the iconography is confusing... to me it seems to be a character with some goggles sticking its tongue out with it's arms up, almost as if it is licking a window. But it was much more fun to make and interesting too. Let's talk about this piece instead of the pain!
